On April 12 – 13 the third RIGRID project meeting took place. The members of the project consortium met in Warsaw, at Warsaw University of Technology, at the seat of one of the project partners – Institute of Electrical Power Engineering.
The first day of the meeting was divided into two sessions. In the morning session, tasks carried out by individual partners, within WP2 ‘Master-plan development’, were discussed. The talks concerned technical, economic and social aspects of low voltage microgrids in rural areas. Software tool serving for optimal design of LV microgrids structures, proposed algorithm for optimal operation control of LV microgrids, as well as business, economic and social issues related to design and exploitation of microgrids and pilot installations were discussed in detail.
During the afternoon session, members of the consortium visited scientific and didactic laboratories of the Division of Electric Power Plants and Economics of Electrical Power Engineering and Division of Electric Networks and Power Systems, which are parts of the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering.
At the second day of the meeting tasks carried out by individual partners, within WP3 ’Implementation of interactive energy and infrastructure design tool and demonstration’, were discussed. In particular, the talk focused on design and research program for a laboratory stand intended to be constructed by the employees of the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering and the assumptions concerning the construction and functioning of demonstration installation in the municipality of Puńsk, being prepared by the Electrum company. The general concept of an interactive energy infrastructure planning tool for rural areas, with the modular structure containing technical, economic and social aspects has been presented by the Fraunhofer IFF. The European Copper Institute presented the press materials, including video explaining the idea of the RIGRID project, as well as current information on the project website.
At the end of the meeting, consortium partners agreed on a timetable for further work on the realization of RIGRID project and planned the date and location of the next project meeting.
